Diabetes Update for Primary Care Providers. Friday 22 February 2019

14 Feb

In the East African Region, there is an immense need for provider education, as the incidence of diabetes in the general population reaches approximately 4 %. Primary care clinics carry the major burden of these patients. Didactic lectures and interactive workshops offered in this program will provide key information on current classification of diabetes, glycaemic targets, as well as effective diagnostic and management strategies using available therapeutic modalities. Important highlights of this CME include the launch of the EADSG EADSG Guidelines: Insulin Storage and Optimisation of Injection Technique in Diabetes Management, Insulin Therapy and its administration and Pharmacological Management of Type 2 Diabetes and an update on the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in Diabetes. There will be a session on Diabetes Education focusing on contextual and cultural aspects. Offerings also include sessions, which provide interactive case discussions on effective insulin use, lipid therapy, inpatient glycaemic management, and newer diabetes technologies, with the paradigm shift of hit early and hit hard.
